Double-action doors
Hard-wearing double-action doors made of polyethylene, stainless steel, timber and HPL compact boards
Double-action doors made of polyethylene (PE), stainless steel, timber or HPL compact boards are used wherever fast and easy transit is of the essence. For example, when no hands are free or no product is to be put down. No matter whether as a single door set or, when appropriate, as a cost-effective, manual alternative to or optimal combination with high-speed doors, the applications range far and wide: catering trade, supermarkets, production facilities, warehouses, trade businesses, store and trade fair construction and many more.
Resistant to –30°C, the doors are also suitable for use in cold stores and, thanks to their food-safe properties, especially in food production. The door leaf of the PE double-action doors comes with a 10-year warranty. Our double-action doors are maintenance-free so there are no maintenance expenses, and the powerless operation means there are no follow-up costs either. In addition, the doors’ high degree of prefabrication makes fitting very quick and easy, without the need for power connections.

Available in four door versions: polyethylene, stainless steel, timber or HPL compact board
Our double-action doors are available in four versions: The door leaves of PE double-action doors consist of 15 mm thick moulded polyethylene PE 500 and are extremely durable and robust. The stainless steel door leaves have a 40 mm thick foam core and are ideal for projects with sophisticated architectural requirements.
The timber double-action doors feature 40 mm thick door leaves made of solid chipboards. The double-action doors with scratch-resistant HPL compact board are 15 mm thick and available in various timber design decors. Both door versions are real eye-catchers in the catering and shop fitting sectors.
The combination with our special, highly shock-proof and maintenance-free stainless steel hinges make the double-action doors extremely resistant and durable. The hinge system allows the door leaves to be opened to angles of 180° or 360°, depending on the door version. This ensures the best possible flexibility in use. Our double-action doors are custom made and delivered with a very high degree of prefabrication, which makes them very quick and easy to fit.

Double-action doors for numerous application areas
Use in food production
Food logistics and production, such as meat processing companies, cold stores and bakeries, require high hygiene standards. Hörmann PE double-action doors not only meet these standards, but also impress with their extremely high durability and high-quality door appearance. Our PE double-action doors can also be combined perfectly with fire sliding doors and insulating sliding doors to reduce cold losses in deep-freeze areas. In cases involving extremely high levels of stress, such as forklift traffic, a height-variable impact absorber profile is available as an option.
Use in supermarkets and logistics buildings
Hörmann double-action doors are the optimal solution where there is high stress and a need to pass through the doors quickly, as is often the case in warehouses or supermarkets, for example. Combined with stainless steel hinges in V2A, they are particularly durable and robust.
Use in the catering trade
Double-action doors are particularly suited to situations where there is no ‘free hand’, such as when carrying food and drinks in restaurants and canteen kitchens, as they open smoothly and easily. We also offer our double-action doors in a stainless steel version for sophisticated architectural requirements. The gleaming surface and high-quality material composite ensure a long-lasting, aesthetically pleasing design.
The double-action doors made of timber and HPL compact board with timber decors are particularly suited for an elegant appearance in the catering, hotel and shop fitting sectors.
Good reasons to opt for Hörmann double-action doors
Durable and hygienic
The door leaves of Hörmann double-action doors consist of 15 mm thick moulded polyethylene PE 500 and are extremely durable and robust. When combined with impact-resistant stainless steel hinges, you get a product that is hard-wearing with a long service life. Even when subjected to extremely high stress, for example when used for forklift truck passageways, PE double-action doors are capable of taking the strain. Hörmann double-action doors also meet stringent hygiene standards: They are resistant to cold temperatures and water and are therefore ideal for use in food production environments.
Impact and break-resistant
Polyethylene PE 500 has good mechanical properties and is impact and break-resistant and therefore extremely robust. PE 500 does not absorb moisture and is resistant to acids and alkalis. Hörmann double-action doors are suitable for various climatic conditions in a temperature range from –30°C to +60°C. These properties make polyethylene the ideal choice for use in the food industry, in catering, in supermarkets and canteen kitchens. The door leaf of our PE double-action doors comes with a 10-year warranty.
Easy to fit and maintenance-free
As all Hörmann double-action doors are supplied completely pre-assembled with frames and hinges, fitting is quick, easy and cost-effective. In addition, there are no follow-up costs, as double-action doors do not require any maintenance and are operated without power. With their versatile frame systems, Hörmann double-action doors are suitable for virtually any internal fitting situation.
Frame systems to suit all requirements
The Hörmann frame system guarantees a stable wall connection for optimal and long-lasting door functionality, providing the door leaf with the ideal framework: lasting quality, reliable stability and a high level of resistance. All components are made of stainless steel and can be used in different temperature conditions. Individual frame solutions in proven Hörmann quality are also available for your wall type. The high degree of prefabrication (all frames are pre-assembled with the hinge and the door leaf) simplifies and speeds up the fitting process on site.
Optimum combination: double-action doors and high-speed doors
Double-action doors and high-speed doors are an ideal combination: Double-action doors are highly resistant and robust and enable fast, manual pedestrian passage. High-speed doors separate larger areas and offer high, automatic opening and closing speeds to regulate passage. This makes a combination of double-action doors and high-speed doors the perfect solution for optimum workflows in industrial and logistics buildings.
